Reality Tv : Entertaining but what about the children? Whats that all about?

Ok..... Reality TV! What is this all about? When reality TV was first introduced to us I honestly thought it wasn't a bad idea. I figured this was the perfect opportunity for the world to view the successful lives of ordinary people that live in a "not so famous" world. This is a chance for regular everyday people to get the kind of recognition they deserve for saving lives, or teaching our children, or taking care of the elderly etc.... Apparently this was NOT the same plan that reality TV promoters had in mind for these particular shows. No instead now we get to view the even less talented bikini bodied twenty-something year old while they eat bugs or sift through a pool of animal feces, get blubbering drunk and fall all over each other, and my personal favorite the 20 - 45 year old bachelor/bachelorettes who find love in 6 weeks while teaching youth of America the way to find a partner is to date 20 people at a time and when you're done with them hand them a rose and tell them to hit the road. These shows are built around the concept that if you aren't talented enough to make it in Hollywood you can always stoop really low and subject yourself to reality show after reality show and "oh yeah, by the way" if you act like the "biggest loser" in the bunch and/or portray yourself as a buffoon, then you too may be offered your very own show built around what a complete moron you are. NOW THAT'S SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF!!! Really!! Now I admit I do have a weakness for the Housewives on "Bravo" and maybe even a few of the talent search shows. In my mind these people are just an inch away from being in Hollywood anyway so I do get the attraction. These shows actually do follow the lives of interesting people. Others however are barely interesting and some are borderline degrading and X Rated.  Although some reality TV is quite a huge disappointment the reality shows that bother me the most are the ones that exploit children. What are these parents thinking???? Are these people so hungry for money and fame that they are willing to subject their children to countless hours in make-up, hair and having to spend their childhoods in front of cameras with all of America watching. Do these children even get a choice in the matter? Some parents say yes! I'm sorry I just cannot believe that a child would agree to have every tantrum, every first blemish, every sickness, outing, vacation, girlfriend or boyfriend and every moment of everyday plastered all over the TV set for all of their friends, neighbors and classmates to see. Not even to mention the rest of America and parts of the world. HMMMMM I'm thinking this was not exactly what these children had in mind when mom and dad said " Hey, honey you want to be on TV?" True we had to have something to fill in air time when writers of "real" shows were on strike, however please tell me that this was not the best idea these writers came up with. Once networks settled and agreed on terms isn't it at all possible that they could have picked their brains for something slightly more stimulating then this? Really if you are spending ANY of your free time absorbing this nonsense I seriously believe it is time that you find a new hobby.

Susan Boyle WOW now theres someone WORSHIP worthy!

Ok lets say a little something about someone really talented and worship worthy! 2 words Susan Boyle.... WOW when she came out on stage at " Britain's Got Talent" latest show I think the world was floored. Here we have a woman over 45 years old.... no job.... never married.... never dated.... never even been kissed!!! Seriously when we all saw the clip for the very first time every one of us sat back and took one look at this woman and laughed, and we laughed out loud snidely may I ad! Then of course she opened her mouth.... And out of that mouth came a sound sung more sweetly then a nightingale! Wow!!.. She can really sing! The world was stunned and in amazement! Here is someone who days prior to this competition was a nobody. Someone even the " average Joe" wouldn't even have stopped to take a brief look at. Then when she got up on that stage, we the average Joe's did nothing but stare and laugh at her until she sang..... then the world stilled to listen. Now this extremely talented woman is laughing at all of us and laughing all the way to the bank. She cut a record deal and now 90% of the world knows the name Susan Boyle! All I have to say is YOU GO GIRL! My only comment to this woman is DON"T EVER CHANGE! Do NOT let societies expectations of what a star is "supposed to look like spoil the amazing gift that she possesses! She has a talent, a real honest to goodness God given talent. That is a rare treat these days! She doesn't prance around on stage in a teeny tiny costume that just about covers the "other" gift that God gave her. She has a real talent! let's face it in this society that is something we just do NOT see everyday. Susan Boyle... in my book you are definitely WORSHIP worthy!....... Haven't seen Susan Boyle perform yet? Check out the videos of her below my blog..... just sit back and enjoy.... she's terrific!

Why does society worship celebrities?????

I just dont get it!!! If someone can explain it to me I would really appreciate it! Why do we as a society worship and adore the rich and famous? They are in the tabloids, all over the television, on the news, and a topic that we just cant seem to get enough of!......... BUT WHY? Are we ( the average Joes) that boring and uninteresting that we have to look else where into other people personal lives to find a thrill? I know a great number of people who have accomplished far more success in their lives then just being physically beautiful. That being said my next question is...... why is physical beauty considered an accomplishment? Just because an (average Joe) doesnt look like Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt why is it that his or her accomplishments are not appealing to us as a society?
I would much rather hear or read about a firefighter who saved the life of a little boy today or a teacher who made a little girl learn the joys of reading! Are we that shallow that because that firefighter doesnt have " abs of steel" or that teacher doesnt have a"bootielicious" back side that we dont want to hear their story? I for one am sick and tired of hearing about whether or not Brangelina will stay together or Jennifer Aniston is secretly meeting Brad down the street. WHO CARES? Its so trivial and really quite honestly none of our business.
I love to watch a good thrilling movie just as much as the next person. I have my favorite TV shows like "House" and "True Blood" that I ritually view at the same time every week no matter what is going on in my life. But to gush and swoon and drool and obsess over the actors and actresses that perform these rolls is just ludicrous!
Some do their jobs well...... and some do NOT..... but for society as a whole or anyone individually to worship any of these celebrities just simply does not make an ounce of sence to me.
I welcome anyone who has any insite of what the appeal is and would love to hear any opposing views.
