Every day there is a new story or media buzz about rappers who get themselves into trouble. Some are arrested for alleged drug charges, some for violence, others for weapons, you name it the list goes on and on. Even more so many rappers are consistently criticized for their offensive use of profanities as well as extensive sexual content in their lyrics. While some of this information is in fact the truth and by no means are we giving rappers a free pass when it comes to breaking the law, we can however, try a glass is half full approach when it comes to writing and media attention about this particular group of artists.

I must admit when I approached some of my readers and filled them in on my plans of writing a piece about taking advice from rappers, I definitely had a mixture of reactions stemming from the tumultuous reputation most rappers have been given. None-the-less I decided to go forth researching in hopes to prove the regular readers wrong.

My first attempt at googling the many more popular rap artists was mediocre at best. What I found was exactly what I had been warned against. It was almost as if I was googling groups of ex and present convicts. That, along with a buffet of "do-gooder" groups who proactively attack rap artists for profanities and use of violence in their lyrics. But now I was more determined then ever to dig for even just one rap artist who uses his fame and fortune for good.

What I found astounded me and I was even more convinced that this was an article well worth writing.  Most rap artist have their own web sites for all to visit. Most are filled with famous lyrics bios, down loads, and tour dates by the thousands.. There is also a media frenzy of articles written on rappers. The content is exactly what you would expect it to be. Thousands of articles attacking the rappers about everything from law breaking to jail time to bad behavior.  But few are filled with facts about the good deeds these artists have accomplished. As I changed my approach and began to research a few foundations and charity functions I found famous rappers of many who donate millions of their own money and time whole heartedly to those in need.

Rapper Lil John who appeared on "Celebrity Apprentice" raised over $80,000 for his favorite charity "United Methodist Children's home" He was quoted saying "I"m rarely speechless, but I'm totally speechless today" when asked to speak about the money he raised. He also said "The goal was to raise awareness to this children's home, through the show ( Celebrity Apprentice) a lot of people got to learn about this home. Through the show, more people said they'll make more donations. I'm happy with that." Lil John was actually upset because his original goal of $100,000 was not met. That's says a great deal of good about the rap star. Lil John also released a song "Stand in the storm" with three of his co stars from the show, and all proceeds go toward the charity as well. Other popular rappers such as Eminem, Cee Lo Green, Rhianna, and Nicki Minaj raised $5 million to help the victims of Japan due to the devastating earthquake/tsunami that hit them in March of this year. They released a CD called "Songs for Japan" on April 4rth. Other groups like Black Eyed Peas, U2, Justin Bieber and Elton John contributed songs as well.

Eminem has been known for his work in many charities. He and Justin Timberlake were among many artists who's efforts helped the disaster victims of Joplin, Missouri when a swarm of tornado's destroyed hundreds of homes, buildings and killed over 150 people. Eminemm and Justin Timberlake also stripped down for a Cosmopolitan shoot that raised awareness for testicular cancer.

While rapper TI and his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle have had their share of negative press the two also found time to host a luncheon called "For the Love of Our Fathers" to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer's. (a charity near and dear to the couple) Both TI and "Tiny" have relatives who have since passed on from Alzheimer's.

Rappers like "Tyga", Ciara, Nicki Minaj, and Chris Brown have released free Cd's and performed at charity concerts to raise money for various foundations worthy of their attention. Tyga and Chris Brown performed at the Virgina Stand Up event that raised money for the victims of Haiti as well.

Another popular artist Common started a foundation called "The Common ground Foundation". The charity raises money to help instill leadership qualities in our less advantaged youths. The rapper/musician/poet believes whole heartedly that all children should have empowering qualities.

This article can go on for pages listing the many good deeds, donating and volunteering that rappers have done in the past. We haven't even touched the tip of what these artists have done in our communities, for our less advantaged youth and for many millions of needy and deserving charities. True, it is easier to believe the bad press and one dimensional view of the press. As a society we simply love the stories that focus and dwell on the negatives. My advice goes out to the media and to the press. Maybe if we took a tad bit of time to research the rappers and for that matter all other artists as well, we would find that although negative press seems to sell slightly better, it is also important to treat others the way we would like to be treated. If someone spends the time to give back to a community or raise millions for those in need, perhaps it is well worth writing about. ... Thumbs Down for those who only report the raunchy negatives.... Reality shows have become increasingly popular over the years. Some are mindless, boring and not worth watching while others are even more entertaining then any Major Network prime time show could ever be. Amongst the top reality show frenzy are the Housewife series. Whether you're a fan of the kitty kats of the OC, the beauties of Beverly Hills, or the glamour girls of Jersey, there's no denying that Reality Housewives have made their mark on reality TV.

One of the favored Jersey housewives is modern matriarch Caroline Manzo. Caroline is a beautiful woman, loving wife, and incredible mother of three. There is no denying that with her big beautiful melt your heart smile and glamour girl good looks she is clearly physically a beauty. However Caroline's true beauty lies skin deep and comes out shining in the love she has for her family.

In a world where most mothers are career girls as well, many say that family comes first but few truly follow the motto. Mrs Manzo makes the "Family First " rule mandatory and her career falls second fiddle. While her children were growing up Caroline stayed home to nurture their needs. She taught them respect, to be well mannered and well behaved. And although Albie and Chris ( Caroline's sons) are now in their twenties and out on their own, as the show has progressed we have seen through the years that the boys still listen and come to Caroline when they need her. Lauren ( Carolines daughter) is still living at home but because of endless encouragement from her mother she is successfully fulfilling her dreams of "making it" as a make-up artist. Caroline allows her children to pick their own dreams, never forcing them into a family business ( owners of the Brownstone in Jersey) or telling them what she thinks they should do. She even once had encouraging words for son, Chris, when he had aspirations of opening a car wash/stripper club. Her only voice of reason to her son was to "make it a car wash/strip club that mama could visit and be proud of." In another episode Albie, her eldest had decided to leave law-school. Instead of showing disappointment and despair for her son  (as many Italian families would have done) she engaged him in a hug, gave him nurturing advice and lent him an ear to listen. She assured him all would be OK then tells him to find a field of work that better would suit him. She clearly encourages her children and offers them the best of her love and attention.

Although she is loving and warm she still wears the pants ( so to speak) when it comes to running the household. Immediately when you watch you realize when this matriarch speaks, all ears still to listen. Lauren puts it best when she said "my mom offers great advice, she can tell you to "F" off and say it with a smile on her face."

Caroline is #6 out of 11 brothers and sisters, she keeps in touch with her large family and also has a respectful and loving relationship with her longtime husband Albert. She is very vocal about working hard to make her marriage a meaningful marvelous one. They have mutual admiration for one another and both work equally hard to keep the marriage fresh and exciting. In season four Caroline turned down an invite to the popular Posche fashion show due to her dedication to the couples date night. Albert and Caroline take time out every week to spend an alone evening together. It's evident that Albert is clearly in love with his wife. Watch an episode or two and you will no doubt see the love between to the two.

The matriarch gives welcomed advice to her fellow housewives. She has a genuine concern for her friends as well as her family.  The depth of her warmth and her spectacular smile make a meaningful pair, and joined with the sassy side we sometimes get to see certainly make is easy to become a fan of the fabulous Mama Manzo.

Caroline Manzo, the matriarch, is a warm well intentioned woman. She is a loving wife, an amazing mother, and fabulous friend to those she holds dear. To the fans she'll always be a favorite of the "Jersey girls" and one hell of a Housewife. We love Team Caroline!... SNAPs for Caroline Manzo!!

LADY GAGA : SUED for JAPAN BRACELETS....WHAT????

Apparently according to the (AP) and news sources from Michigan, Lady Gaga is being sued in her efforts to raise money for the victims of the March Tsunami/Earthquake in Japan. Michigan Legals 1800LAWFIRMS are alleging that Lady Gaga and the companies that are associated with selling, advertising and marketing the "We Pray for Japan" white bracelets are 1. charging to much shipping and handling and 2. showing "inflated reports of total donations" for the bracelets. There have been no comments from Lady Gaga or the companies associated with the sales of the bracelets as of yet. (In her defence however she is in Japan right now performing concerts in efforts to raise money for the victims of the disaster)

LETS GETS REAL PEOPLE!!!!!

Now clearly there have been efforts in the past when the public has been slightly steered in a direction to believe that money donated to help others may have been accepted and used for profitable reasons. There is no doubt that there are many money hungry people in the world who use unique circumstances to their own selfish benefits in order to make mounds of money. There is no denying that we have all been blindsided before due to terrible individuals who tear tirelessly at our heartstrings to make us donate to a cause we truly believe in. And, once they receive our hard earned money they instead pack the profits in their own pockets instead of giving to those in need. BUT SERIOUSLY PEOPLE This is NOT one of those cases. 

Lady Gaga has spent her entire fame and fortune career trying to teach others about tolerance, equality, being accepting and to lend a helping hand to those in need. The singer flew out to Japan to perform at a benefit concert to sing and send out a message to her fans and others to "come to Japan". Gaga made the bracelets in order to get her "little monsters"  involved in raising money to help the victims of Japan on a monetary level that everyone could afford and certainly NOT to put a profit in her own pocket. The singer has donated now over $3 million of her own money. Clearly she was not scheming and planning to overcharge fans a few measly dollars in shipping and handling.

That's not to say there isn't a problem going on here. Perhaps there was a mistake made on the part of a marketing or advertising third party in the planning of the sales of the bracelets. But, to honestly come out and say that they are suing Lady Gaga for attempting to pocket the money on shipping and handling and showing inflated reports of total donation figures is just simply ludicrous.

Lady Gaga has made millions of dollars for ....well...for just being Lady Gaga. Her "little monsters" love her for her unique, outrageous outfits, her superb singing voice and the many messages she sends out to others of unity, equality, tolerance, love and GENEROSITY.

If there was a glitch somewhere in the planning that made the "Japan bracelet Project" somehow make a profit, it surely was a mistake and NOT done on purpose by the performer. In fact the problem lies within the fact that these days people don't always put efforts in to trying to help others just because they are afraid of something like this happening. Lady Gaga is a woman who should be commended for using her fame and fortune to try to help others and instead shes is getting bad press and back lash for it. (Thumbs down for the cynics accusing the singer for fraud!!) and (SNAPs again for GAGA always willing to help out others)

Selena Gomez attended the New York film premier of her new movie, "Monte Carlo" on Thursday June 23,2011. The actress played two roles in the film. The first, Grace, a sweet down to earth American girl touring Europe with her two gal pals. And the second, Cordelia a stuffy pretentious British heiress who's fashionable with an accent. Gomez made a couple of comments insinuating the role of Cordelia was difficult to play but that she had great fun with the high-fashioned look of the heiress.

Selena has come a long way from her 2002 - 2006 recurring appearances on the show "Barney and Friends." Perhaps her most memorable role was playing Alex Ruzzo on the Disney show "Wizards of Waverly Place."

The actress/singer/entrepreneur has been an adorable addition to the acting world. Her perky personality, sweet girl next door demeanor, and instantly likable quality may just be a few of the reasons Selena Gomez has become a super star sensation. Sadly, cynics have stated that Selena has only won her claim to fame by riding the coat tails of boyfriend Justin Bieber. However facts don't lie and the fact remains that Gomez began her career far before Bieber was even on the radar. Surely Selena knows she is the envy of millions globally for her relationship with Justin. However, it isn't as though Bieber has the rough end of a deal. Ms Gomez is young, talented, beautiful and chalk full of super-sweet goodness. The relationship was destined to happen eventually. 

Gomez and Bieber have a great deal in common beside obvious fame and fortune they've achieved. The couple is always on their best behavior in public and both seem to steer completely clear of the "perpetual party life" so many other young stars become submerged in. In addition they are both well grounded and keep themselves surrounded with family and friends who give good advice and look out for their best interests. 

There is no sure way to tell if the relationship between Bieber and Gomez will become long lasting. Time will only tell. We can however be sure that even if the (sweet as a southern homemade pecan pie) "power couple" decides to call it quits, there's no doubt Ms Gomez will continue to surprise us with her talent. We haven't hit the tip of the ice burg with Selena Gomez quite yet. Her singing voice has a sound not unlike a lark or a nightingale. She has an amazing ability to lure an audience in with her elegant and simple presence. Her ethics of hard work, determination and drive can only clear a path for her success in the future. Lady Gaga is in Tokyo, Japan this week, doing what the singer does even better then her perfect performing. She is giving of herself to help others. On Thursday Jun 23, (according to the associated press) Gaga attended a press conference to talk about MTV Video Music Aid Japan. "I can't say enough to people all over the world that the majority of Japan right now, Japan in general is very safe." said the singer. She is there as part of her concert tour and is trying to encourage other performers, as well as tourists to come and visit Japan. Many people have been uneasy about visiting the country due to a chemical leak from a nuclear reactor meltdown caused by the devastating earthquake/Tsunami that hit Northeastern Japan on March 11 of this year. Proceeds from the MTV Video Music Aid for Japan will be going to the victims of the horrific disaster. 

Gaga, looking uniquely stunning as always, was photographed drinking out of a Japanese tea cup inscribed with the words "Pray for Japan" on it. The singer said she would later auction off the tea cup and donate the money she receives to the victims of the disaster as well. Lady Gaga will also be attending the MTV Video Music Aid for Japan which is being held at the Makuhari Messe ( a Japanese convention center) in Chiba (a city outside of Tokyo) on Saturday June 25, 2011. Gaga has been nominated for three awards for the evening as well another international artists such as Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and Linkin Park. Also nominated are Japans own Al and Yui.

Lady Gaga also was quoted stating " The most important thing, and the best thing, we could do for Japan is to boost Tourism, and so everyone come to Japan and come enjoy the beautiful country." She was awarded a special honor and thank you from officials in Japan for her enormous generosity and her willingness to help the country in need. After the event Gaga is scheduled appear in Taiwan, Japan on July 1st.

Does it even need to be said, that Lady Gaga, once again has used her fame and fortune for yet another incredibly unselfish act of kindness? The unbelievably unique singer, song writer, and humanitarian continues to work diligently tyring to make the world a wonderful, better place. She uses her special gifts to sincerely speak up for those without a voice and does it simply because she truly believes it's the right thing to do. Lady Gaga would have an enormous following on her tremendous talent and outrageous appearance alone. It is of her own choosing to help the helpless and preach words of wisdom. Gaga has again simply succeeded in giving her many fans around the world another reason to root for the "Mama Monster". You may not think that Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber have anything in common. However, Canadians with "Bieber fever" and "Little Monsters" would surely disagree. The Canadian Much Music Video Awards were on Sunday night June 19th. Justin Bieber who co hosted the event went home with the award for "Favorite Artist" for his popular song "Somebody To Love". He also won the "Best International Canadian Video" award for two of his hits, " Somebody To Love" and "Find Your Love". Bieber attended the awards show with the lovely and super sweet Selena Gomez who has been Bieber's girlfriend for a while now. Canada is home to the pop star and the fans were thrilled to see Bieber host and win on his home turf.

Lady Gaga who also attended the event won Most Popular International Artist award for her much controversial video "Judas". Clearly the Canadian fans were not concerned about controversy as they voted in the singer and watched her perform twice during the evening as well. Canada's "little monsters" love Lady Gaga and it certainly showed on Sunday night.

While Bieber and Gaga have two totally separate styles the two pop stars are similar in many other ways. Both singers are beautiful on the outside as well as the inside and both are loving and loyal to their millions of fans. Justin Bieber is a super classy kid with the maturity and manners of men twice his age. While Gaga uniquely sends superb messages to our youth about tolerance and equality. We couldn't be happier for the two extremely award winners and we can clearly see that Canadians would concur. DO's

1. Tell your husband when you are fighting with your cousin so he can surprise you with a brand new car!

2. When singing Amazing Grace in front of millions of viewers substitute the word "wench" for wretch

3. Always bring a bodyguard to all Posche Parties you never know who you'll end up fighting

4.When dressing your children make sure to match them perfectly outfits, hair bows, purses, all accessories

5. Be sure to have a Botox party when introducing yourself to family of your new friends

6. Praise your children when they have great ideas ( like opening a car wash/ strip club)

7.Bring all family and friends to the consultation when you are getting a "Boob Job"

8. Buy your daughter a car even when she misbehaves and do it without consulting with your wife first

9. Make enough food/desserts to feed a third world country for weeks when having immediate family over

10. Make sure your guests enjoy a mechanical bull ride before a Holiday meal!

DONT'S

1. Don't arrive on time for ANY family functions you are invited to but always get really angry with others when they are late arriving to your family function!

2. Don't get along with everyone in the family it just isn't normal

3. Never leave the house without a cat burglar hat.

4. Never allow yourself to become friends with anyone named Kim ( they can't be trusted)

5. Never meet a man or know his full name before you start having regular phone sex with him!

6. Never use any other color to decorate your bathroom with besides GOLD

7. Never buy anything unless it is really expensive and completely over the top!

8. Don't trust anyone who isn't Italian (or connected somehow)!

9. Never marry into a family without someone with the name "Joe" (or "Tony" )

10. Never show yourself in public without mounds of make up and spray tan!

Justin Bieber, a name few do not know these days. He's young, multi talented, hes adorable and he's captured the hearts of millions around the globe. At only 17 he has already accomplished an amazingly astonishing amount. His top 40 hits including "BABY" "ONE TIME" and "U SMILE" have adoring fans jam packing websites fan Face Book pages and Twitter tweets with mountains of messages. "I Love You" tweets are many and marriage proposals are among the millions on the "Biebs" twitter page which incidentally has over 10 million followers.
Justin is without a doubt living the dream. He's enjoying the lap of luxuries and perks that those many years his senior had to work years to obtain. He certainly has more then most and with "Bieber" fans and fever growing daily it doesn't seem he'll be losing any popularity fame or fans any time soon.

Like most musicians Justin travels for tours to a variety of countries. He also has a pretty hefty paycheck to spend wherever, however and on whom ever he chooses. However unlike most musicians and celebrities in his age bracket Justin remains surprisingly grounded. He has been quoted stating his mother ( who he has called his rock) still makes the rules and makes sure to keep him as grounded as possible. In a recent interview with Barbara Walters, Bieber told Barbara his mother has taught him to fully appreciate everything he has, she is also the force behind the reason the "Biebs" interacts and fully appreciates his large fan base. Justin also told Barbara that "Mama Biebs" still gives him rules, discipline and all the attention he needs daily. She has not allowed Justin to forget where he came from and keeps the super star talent from letting fame go right to his head. His mother has encouraged Justin to still believe in God and he has expressed a love of his faith on frequent occasions.

Young aspiring artists,"want to be" celebs, and even those who find fame and fortune at an early age can certainly learn by Beiber's example. Whether or not you're a fan of his music there simply is no denying the spark and special something this young man has to offer. In a world and "new era" where sex sells and the fame industry forces aspiring artists to grow up ASAP, it is refreshing to see a young super talent who refuses to give in to the horror and hype of it all.

Justin Bieber seems to be exactly what the fame, fortune industry needed as a role model and super hero for fans and aspiring artists alike. His polite manners, gentle demeanor, boy next door qualities, and the love and respect he has for his fans and his mother are positive and admirable attributes. If more of those who find fame at an extremely early age would take the advice and learn to adopt these admirable attributes of Justin Bieber, just imagine the domino effect it would have on the industry and the fans they inspire.  Contrary to popular belief men are not all bad. Although it is easy to believe this fine fable. It's even easier to believe if you have just been through a bad break up or had your heart hurt by an insensitive malicious or mean man. When you are in your adolescences it is easy to look at the bad behavior of the boys your age and believe they will never grow up. They typically tease and taunt and though it may seem immature believe it or not this is typical behavior for teens at this age. Whether it seems true or not boys do eventually grow up and change however it may take some time before the teasing and taunting come anywhere close to an end.

 As boys become closer to the age of dating its important to remember that women ( or rather girls) will most likely mature much more rapidly then boys will. Girls in their teens typically try dating boys before they are necessarily ready. It might make boys slightly uncomfortable knowing that a girl he knows has feelings for him and truthfully he doesn't necessarily know how to act towards her. Hence, causing him to react immaturely and more often then not he has a tendency to turn her off. As he matures he begins to learn lessons on life and love from  his older brothers, his parents, his friends and eventually his bad behavior towards the opposite sex will discontinue. ( This takes longer for some then others)
As puberty comes to a close, time takes its tole and teens turn into men. They learn to act more appropriately and honorable towards a women. (some however never grow out of immaturity) Most men eventually learn how to love and respect a woman. The question remains though, How do you choose a man who is mature, respectful and will treat you the right way?
 Most men learn how to treat a woman by watching their parents as they grow up. If you truthfully want to measure how a man will treat you in time, watch how he treats his mother. If he treats his mother with dignity, love and respect, then grab a hold to him as quickly as possible. Chances are he will treat you with the same respect and love he treats her with. On the other hand if he has bad blow ups and cursing wars with Mama then run for the hills ladies hes most likely not the Casanova you thought he was. This rule of thumb certainly does NOT apply to all men. There are plenty of good guys who have been the product of failed family life. In the same respect some men who treat their mamas like royalty turn out to be big babies. For the most part though the rule does apply.

When you're looking for a "good man" stand back a bit and watch how he works. See if he puts his family (especially his mother) on a pedestal. Watch his behavior around his sister and/or his gal pals. If

 he tends to treat them truly

well then you can probably bet he will treat you even better. Try to remember that no man is perfect. They have flaws just as we all do. A terrific trick to getting a man to truly treat you right is to truly try to treat him that terrific way you'd like to be treated. ADVICE FOR A FRIEND WITH A BROKEN HEART

We all have heard it a thousand times...Tis better to have Loved and lost then to have never loved at all.
Words so easily said .. and yet so hard to believe. My dear friend whose heart is breaking I can only tell you that time heals all wounds and eventually you will feel better about this broken heart and you truly will learn to love again.

A broken heart or an ended romance can somehow feel like a fate worse then losing a loved one to death. I realize that the hurt seems to be hard right now and feels like it may never pass. Know that at once in every ones lives they have been there too. Be comforted by the knowledge that you are not alone we have all felt a hurt of a broken heart. The best part is that after time passed we all picked ourselves up and decided to make another attempt to find love again. Trust me my friend it is why we live. You feel hurt now but you will again feel the special childlike innocent carefree happy go lucky I'm on top of the world feeling that new love brings to us all.

After a break up the heart needs a little time to heal. It may hurt for a while but you cannot give up and assume this was your only chance to find love. This temporary set back only means that you are destined to find someone even more wonderful and special and perfectly suited to become your other half. Look at it this way my broken hearted friend. When you fell in love for the first time you felt the most alive and happiest you ever felt in your life. When the romance ended you felt broken and hurt. But, When you seek out again and find a lover more suitable for you then even the one you just lost, think how absolutely amazing and fantastic this new love will feel. Trust me when I tell you the saying is so very true. When it is real, you will know it and when you find it you will look back and laugh and feel silly that you even felt hurt at all. True love will find you.  Never give up on that because there is a perfect someone out there for everyone. Trust me your perfect mate is right now looking high and low to find a lover like you. Your mom was spot on, there are plenty of fish in the ocean.You just have to swim through the ocean a little before you come out with the perfect match.
