When Do You Know Your In Love?

When do you know that you are in love? If I had even just a nickle for everytime I was asked that one simple question I swear I'd be on a beach in Fiji throwing back fruity drinks with swivel sticks and bathing in my own money. I know it seems like a question that should have a difinitive answer but truthfully it just may possibly be the most difficult question to answer of all time.


The truth of the matter is love is a funny thing and at different stages of our lives it can hit us in a buffet of different ways. The word love has a specific meaning to almost everyone but the way we judge the word love isn't always as black and white as we'd like to believe it is.


For example: The head over heals teenager at the peak of his/her life just recently being introduced to the concept of love sees is far more clearly and definitively then say the conciencious 30 year old who's just finding his/her self and wants to make the right choices about love. For the teenager love is holding hands and pitter patting hearts and roses and flowers and sweetness and gardens. Its so easy to love when your young. You have little in the way of expectations and the slightest notice from the lover you are seeking can easily ignite a frensy of explosive exciting emotions. Love is so innocent at this age and to the beholder ( young and nieve) everything feels like love.


For the 30 year old love is still blissful but is slightly more reserved and definately comes with more expectations. the 30 year old is not only concentrating on bliss but worries about values, emotions, living arrangements, family, children and about a million other factors when falling in love. It is not as cut and dry as the teenage love and more then likely the 30 year old has felt what appeared to be love ( and then loss) many times before and so it becomes different. now.


No matter what age you are however, love will feel like happiness and every day feels like your birthday in the beginning. The new fresh love is the best kind. When even a simple walk in the park feels like you're riding on clouds and the larks and nightengales are singing only for you and your partner. This however fades after time unfortunately and what's left after that is usually how one can measure if it truly is love. Love is being comfortable. Love is being kind. Love is understanding, Love is never complicated its just love. You should never have to work annoyingly hard at love. ( although that is'nt to say there won't be difficult times ahead) Love means compromising even though you may not want to. It means taking chances for someone that you would seldom take for anyone else and trusting like you've never trusted before. Its letting your guard down and just allowing the "true you" to shine through. Its being able to say "I'm sorry" and mean it, even if you haven't done anything wrong.


How do you know when it is real love...I truly believe you can't put it into words. It's what you feel inside and it lasts beyond a lifetime.
